THE HORSEMAN

Alex Cord is no stranger to broken bones, pulled muscles and danger in the form of raging bulls and bucking broncos. At the tender age of 16, he quit high school to join the rodeo and became one of the best bull riders in the country.

As a child, Cord was stricken with polio. Instead of succumbing to its ravages, he worked steadily toward recovery, much of his time taken up dreaming of his four-legged friends galloping over those wide open spaces. At age 13, he was sent to a Wyoming ranch for further therapy, learning to stay on anything with four legs.
After various thrills and spills and sustaining serious injuries while at a rodeo in Madison Square Gardens in New York City, he ended up in a hospital for a grueling 8-month stay. It was at that time he decided to finish high school and then went on to college at New York University, receiving a degree in Literature. The rest is history (Please see The Man page for biography).
Just try keeping this guy away from anything that has to do with horses! Mr. Cord was heavily involved with polo and last I knew had a string of ponies. He's been known to take to the polo field for charity causes, most particularly, The March of Dimes, with such other polo celebrities as Doug Sheehan and William DeVane of Knots Landing fame and Stephanie Powers, co-star of Robert Wagner on Hart To Hart. I'm told that as of late, Alex is concentrating more on the rodeo aspect of his life at present, still lassoing in those championship buckles and trophies.
In November 1997, he was a celebrity judge at the National Cutting Horse Championships held in the Dallas/Fort Worth area and has been known to make appearances in various celebrity horsemen/rodeo-riders/actors conventions and gatherings throughout the country.
With so many diverse interests, one is NEVER certain where Alex Cord will be popping up, but then, as I'm sure we would all agree, that is part of the man's charm -- his spontaneity, his drive, his lust for life and never-say-die attitude. A man, who in addition to his wide-range acting skills, will ever be remembered as a superb horseman.
