HOLLYWOOD WALK OF FAME PAGE

For fans who would like to see Alex get a well-deserved star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame -- read on!

September 24, 2000

Not too long ago, I received a response from the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, specifically from Ms. Ana Martinez-Holler, Director of Public Relations. She very kindly sent me an application, criteria guidelines for nomination and the procedure for submission of the application.

Basically, the application is simple to fill out. There are six category nominations -- motion pictures, live theatre, television, recording, radio, and posthumous. It requires the name, address and telephone of the sponsor, and qualifications of the nominee. The qualifications are: professional achievement in the field of entertainment; longevity of five years or more; and contributions to the community. Also, the recipient must agree to attend the dedication ceremony. All applications must include a bio and photo and the application cannot be more than 10 pages. Samples of the nominee's work may also be submitted. The next deadline for application submission is May 31, 2001. There is a sponsorship fee of $15,000.

So far, the only obstruction I see is the $15,000. So if any of you out there have any ideas on how this can be raised, I would appreciate any help. It would almost have to be set up by an independent party other than myself -- because, as with all things of this nature, handing over a goodly amount of money to someone you hardly know or don't know at all, is not something we readily do, or if we do, we're FOOLS. So any ideas -- please, submit them. I'd be interested to figure out a way to do this that would satisfy everyone that they wouldn't be financially ripped off.

I will periodically update this as more information becomes available, the most recent entries to be found at the top of the page. I'd like to get the submission in by next May's due date and with the money available if at all possible. Otherwise, we'll have to wait until 2002. Thanks for your support!
